Ear, eyebrow, cheekbone, and nipple
Weeks 1–2
- Wash with water and mild soap 2 to 3 times a day.
- Optional: apply saline solution.
- Dry thoroughly.
- Don't remove or change the jewelry.
Weeks 3–5
- Avoid moving or touching the jewelry.
- Don't sleep on the piercing.
- Avoid tight clothing (depending on the area).
- Only wear recommended pieces (titanium or surgical steel).
Oral piercings (4 weeks)
- Brush your teeth after every meal.
- Use alcohol-free mouthwash.
- Avoid spicy food, acidic drinks (lemon), greasy food, and extreme temperatures.
- Don't remove or change the jewelry.
Important
- Don't use iodine, alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide.
- Stay out of pools and the ocean during healing.
- Don't take antibiotics without medical advice.
- Lymph (a clear or yellowish fluid) is normal.
- Don't remove the jewelry if the piercing hasn't fully healed, as it can close up. The healing process can take 6 months to 1 year, depending on the area.

A clear, yellowish, or whitish discharge is normal; it's called lymph.
If small bumps (granulomas) appear, they're usually caused by touching or pressure. Avoid touching them or sleeping on the piercing; they tend to go away in about two weeks.
